And So Falls the Rain

Here's my "closure" poem. If you've ever tried your best, failed, and then determined to try again, you might identify with some of the elements...

Down, the gavel - judgement passed;
No chance to offer up a plea.
Truth, trod upon, history remade in your image;
I am guilty of unspoken crimes.

And so falls the rain...
Upon the saint, the fool and felon
Blessing, cursing, all the same.

Samaritan, sorry - fool for trying;
Good deeds desiring to be undone.
Kindness, fully punished, pondering the wisdom of an encore;
Thrusts his hand into the flame again.

And so falls the rain...
Upon the king, the just, the jester
Not for honor, not to blame

Up, from ashes - stronger, wiser;
Unbroken by bitter circumstance.
Aspiration, blind to reason, certain of a different outcome;
Drops another pebble in the stream.

And so falls the rain...
